Dr Naboya is welcomed to our team of GPs
Newly qualified GP Dr Maryam Naboya says that joining Lakeside Stamford has been the right move and the team is ‘welcoming and helpful.’
She had trained and worked in the Ukraine and Nigeria before coming to the UK as an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist in a hospital. She then decided to train as a GP as she wants to deal with a range of cases: ‘I thought that being a GP would give me flexibility and would mean I wouldn’t focus on just one specialism.
'At Stamford I went through a month long induction with members of different teams including reception and dispensary and I also had new clinical systems to learn. The team has been helpful and welcoming. In my final year of GP training I learned how to conduct telephone and remote consultations effectively as well as the face to face so that was very helpful. I have been buddied up with another doctor here to help me settle in but the whole team of doctors is very approachable and supportive.’
Our Stamford team raised smiles and more than £160 on Christmas Jumper Day. Staff at both Sheepmarket and St Mary's dressed in festive finery to bring a bit of Christmas cheer to both patients and colleagues. Lu Harris, a dispenser, won a prize for her lovely costume. Thanks to all staff who took part or contributed to the site total.
GP Partner, Dr Dan Petrie took part in the annual Santa Race around Burghley House to raise money for Mindspace, a charity he helped to co-found. He said: ' Charities have core costs that have to be covered and any money raised will mean that the charity can get on and continue to support our community for all our neighbours, colleagues, friends and family to thrive through its activities.
Healthwatch Lincolnshire, working with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) is conducting a patient survey on our services, which can be accessed via Healthwatch Lincolnshire's Facebook Page.
Hub Manager, Teri White, said: 'We value patient feedback and meet regularly with our Patient Participation Group to maintain an open and positive dialogue. The team here has worked tirelessly over the past few months to improve systems and procedures, including updating the telephone system and implementing a new management structure. We will also welcome a new member of the management team imminently. These current and planned changes have been carried out while providing core services, supporting the Covid booster vaccination programme and dealing with a huge upsurge in demand. We remain committed to giving our patients the best possible service given the many constraints we have already faced, and are currently working to overcome, and look forward to seeing the results of this survey.'
