Parking cameras being installed at St Mary’s site

Automatic number plate recognition cameras are in use at both Sheepmarket and St Mary’s Surgery to safeguard parking spaces for patients and visitors.

The cameras will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Signs are prominently displayed in the car park, reception and waiting areas reminding patients and visitors to register within 10 minutes of arrival and not exceed the two-hour maximum time limit. Any infringement will incur a penalty notice.

Our patient service advisors will be happy to assist anyone who needs help registering their vehicle on the screens in reception.

Hub Manager Teri White said: ‘We know that many people, unfortunately, use our spaces, particularly at St Mary's, to park when shopping or visiting the town. This has a detrimental effect on our capacity, and affects patients who have a genuine reason to visit, to collect medication or attend appointments. This system has benefits for patients by making sure that spaces are free for those who need them, particularly if they struggle with mobility.

‘Total Parking Solutions manages the system independently so we are unable to intervene in any parking disputes arising from using our sites and we do not receive any money from fines. We would like to remind patients to adhere to the displayed guidelines as any infringement could result in a penalty notice of £40, rising to £70 if not paid within 14 days of issue.’
